Day 5… Grand Cayman!

Okay let me gather my thoughts here… day 5… maybe I should take a shot to jog my memory. Oh yeah, there was the small detail that we woke up in the freakin’ Cayman Islands!!! Grand Cayman Island to be exact.

Run through the normal morning routine- Wipe the drunk off my face, pack our bag, and grab breakfast before getting lost off the boat. Lucky for us Dave, our tour guide, remembered a better way to get off the boat! We heard this rumor that everyone was going to the Shiner Party of some sort at Seven Mile Beach… eh, the word Shiner was in the title, followed by beach so I was sold!

Cayman was not nearly as scary as JAMaica, we piled into a van (with some very angry tourists I might add) and headed to the beach. There were enough pirates to make my friend Jacob “oops I crapped my pants”! There were statues, pirate ships, and signs everywhere! Guess it kind of goes hand in hand with the islands. Anyway, a short ride later we were at the beach and it was beautiful! First up off the van- sunblock! I didn’t want the same pain as JAMaica left on me, so there was a cute little shack right there full of goodies (how convenient!) to blow your money on. Lucky for me, next to the shack was a sign pointing me in the right direction, however if I decided to swim to Cuba I know knew which way to paddle!

Which way to the bar?

And then there’s the beach and nearby bar/restaurant… it was beautiful! And so was the beach…

Ahhhh!

Looks like a magazine add!

It was already crowded so we claimed our spot and began our afternoon. A couple of guys were making this sweet sand sculpture thing next to us, they must have been at it for a while! I swear, I don’t know how they do that… all I would be able to come up with is a little one room shack in the projects… We headed straight for the water! Remember, I was a pro ocean swimmer now so I wasn’t scared of anything! Well except for that stupid fish that keeps attacking me!!! I flipped out a little… well it hurt! Ok maybe it was more of a little scrape of his (boys are mean) fins when he brushed by me, but I swear he was after only me! Stupid damsel… yeah I figured out what kind of fish it was when I saw it! Anyway, after swimming for a while, it was time for lunch… hmmm Cayman food. Lucky for us, Cody and Kathleen already had a table so we joined them! What? Cayman food is fish?! Dangit I, oh wait, I am a pro shrimp eater also… nope, no shrimp! Burger and fries, please.

We finished with just enough time for one more dip in the Ocean before having to be back on the ship. That damn damsel found me again! Soon enough John Dickson is yelling for all of us stragglers (man if JBS had been on the cruise that would have been a good pun, huh?) to get on the vans… Oh wait those guys finished their sculptures! Look at the detail… there’s even side boob cleavage!

Carmen?

We all piled in the vans and headed back to the ship. When you see the line to get back on board, there’s a moment of panic when you think “Jeez, I won’t be able to get back on the ship and I’ll be forced to tend bar in this God forsaken paradise. Lay around on the beach all day, not go back to my worries, stay tan all year… BUT WAIT! I can’t miss the Reckless show tomorrow!! Make way!”

It took a little while, but we made it…

We got back on the ship and waved good-bye to paradise! What did we do after that? Hmm… I don’t know… think it was a relatively lazy afternoon of getting ready for the night… maybe this was when we watched Cheaper By The Dozen 2 for the 51st time, or was it Big Momma’s House 2? Either way, I took a nap.

Tonight, we didn’t start at the Pizza Bar! Shocking I know! WAIT! This was dressy dinner night I think! So Tab and I got all gussied up and went to dinner! Good food, but would’ve been just as happy with the buffet… we went and changed into regular clothes and met up for drinks in the Casino bar. Oh how I miss the sound of the casino when those elevator doors open! It was packed full of all the cool people… guess just as all things, the pizza bar lost its shine. We sat there and played cards and drank coffee. PSYCH!! Naturally there was beer and loud music… It faded out a little and I find myself standing with Jimmy behind the tables while all the others gambled. Somehow a Jager made it into my hand, and thats where it gets fuzzy… I don’t do Jager willingly, so it takes a special someone to make me take that stuff straight.

WAIT- We returned to the beloved pizza bar for some late night grub and back deck partyin’… I knew it wasn’t totally done! OK there you have it… day 5 in Grand Cayman! All I know is tomorrow was Cozumel day, and nothing compares to a Cozumel Party… all that and I’ll get to top it off with a Reckless Kelly show… damn I love it!!!

*OH! I almost forgot to tell you one of the funniest stories of Grand Cayman… So we are all sitting eating lunch by the ledge. (We were sitting on one of the outermost tables on the deck and there was a wall between us and the sand, does this make sense?) Anyway, we were just shootin the shit and out of no where this crazy guy pops up on the wall from the beach to talk to the group (aka green team) at the next table. Seriously he just randomly popped up on the wall, out of no where!! Oh the best part (if only I had a picture!) He was in full snorkel attire- goggles, snorkel in mouth, the whole nine!!! Scared the beejesus out of me!!!! I swear Tab and I jumped at least 5 feet… true story! I love you Steven, but that was funny! To add to the story, when I was explaining who my friend Steven was from the cruise I had to tell her that it was Aquaman from Cayman… yeah we named him.
