Happy Reckless Kelly Day!

All right, get comfortable kids; we have a lot of ground to cover! Day 6 aka Thursday aka Reckless Kelly Day was amazing!!! Not that there was a bad day on the CCRuise, but we had Cozumel and Reckless Kelly to look forward to!

So surely you have caught on to out morning rituals by now- look presentable, breakfast, pictures, get off the ship… With Cody and Kathleen renting a scooter, Dave skipping this one, Willy, Jay, and Jimmy at parts unknown to us; today Tab and I were on our own! Two girls braving the wild streets of Mexico, relying only on our keen sense of direction and broken tex-mex I have picked up working in a restaurant! We were determined to find our way to Senor Frogs without a taxi or a tour guide! We did have to walk like 90 blocks to get there! There was a rumor that Senor Frogs was the place du jour for reasons to make us SFP. We were among the first few there, so naturally the molestation was focused on us. (Hope you hear my sarcasm!!) Yes those servers there sure know how to make a girl feel special!

Wow

Although we had decided we were going to take it easy on the drinking today, we started with some always-delicious Tecate. Mmmmm tecate… Soon enough they were starting the games for the day- first up “What 80’s TV Theme Song Is This?” And as luck would have it, my dad and I watched Alf all the time! So there starts the shots being poured down my throat… and it didn’t stop. (I also was the proud recipient of something blue for guessing “Jem” too!) Before I knew it the place was crowded and I was in a conga line only stopping for margarita from a bottle every few feet… *and the room went ’round* Naturally I took a liking to one of the servers and tried to smuggle him back with us…

My Latin Lover

well not really, but he was pretty when he did that dance with the fringed cowboy vest on. (What?) More games that I don’t remember, and when I said I was from Texas some crazy guy came and shot more something or other in my mouth and went on his merry little way. (Wow I really just said that, huh?)

Liquor people!

Soon enough the place was packed with our fellow CCRuisers and someone got some Cross playing and everyone was running around naked! Ok the naked part didn’t happen, but it was madness! We were all two-stepping Mexico, how “badass” is that?! All I know is I am a damn good salsa dancer when I am drunk! We ordered some big margaritas and sat back to watch the games continue… Chet had to drink a huge beer, Luke had to get a ball in a cone, some girls had to chug FROZEN margarita, and we took pictures. That’s when the storm hit! It was crazy! The rain was so hard they shut the windows and gave out more shots. We were glad at that moment we weren’t out on the beach or anything cause it hit fast and hard! We bought a couple of “FUN” shots, said goodbye to my Latin lover and headed back to the boat…

I know that there’s hardly any alcohol in those free shots, but seriously I am glad I made it back to the ferry! There’s no telling how many I had!! Which would explain why I draw a blank getting back on the ship…

We went back to the room and got ready for the Reckless show that night!!! Oh wait!!! We have another visit- Ugh! Tab killed him faster than I could type that sentence! This time she pulled his head off… poor poor George.

RIP George

It was pirate costume night, so I wore a black stripe dress (its the only close pirate thing I had) and we were promised eye patches. After grabbing some dinner, we met up in the casino and people were decked out in pirate attire! I have to hand it to them; they knew what they were doing! The only Reckless member to go all out was Cody. And I mean all out! It was beautiful, brought a tear to my eye… again, I’m kidding, but he was definitely the part of a pirate!

Captain Cody Braun

Okay, okay, Jimmy had a pirate hat and Willy had a bandana on… Oh yeah and then there’s that minor detail that Jay wore a fabulously large gold earring in spirit! Dave- I don’t believe you were in character mister… but you’re still a “badass”

Ok, on with the show… we got our seats and beer and patiently waited for the boys to come on. I’ll give you 5 guesses as to what they started with (those that weren’t on the cruise, hand down Steven) nope… nope… nope… Wouldn’t you know they had been hashing out a reggae version of Cross Canadian Ragweed’s “Carney Man”?! Went more like “I’m a Carney mon” FANTASTIC! Just as they started to play it, in walks the cast of Sopranos to enjoy it. Not really the Sopranos, all Cross and entourage fully in character! They all got a good laugh out of it and the show continued as normal! Sorry I don’t have a set list, but I can tell you they were on fire! Willy threw out a few new songs (new then) “Wiggles and Ritalin” and “Break My Heart Tonight” and brought the house down with “Crazy Eddie”!

In between all that fun, they took a break for the pirate costume contest. Before getting into the best part of the night, let me explain this to you… Enzo (CCRW’s co-manager) was the boss, so they had him a chair right at the stage and served him all night. All the ladies were fabulously tacky Jersey women from Sopranos and most the guys wore velour leisure suits. Except for Enzo and Bert, who wore suits looking sharp as hell! Ok, the contest… Oh here’s where stories were and will be forever told… some fat guy in a velour leisure suit got on stage to announce for the contest, bottle of wine in hand.

He looks a lot like...

What a minute… is that Wade Bowen? In full character, never missing a beat, he announced the winners in glorious Jersey, Sopranos accent!!! Oh my gosh I laughed so hard during that contest! I am sure the contestants didn’t know what to think. I turned around and Cody and Shannon were sitting behind us dying laughing! Wade stayed on stage when the boys came back to help Jimmy out…

Drank your whiskey down

The show was amazing! They had so much fun you could tell… they even got on the tables to jam out!

By the end of the show most of Cross was on stage with Reckless and they were all just doing what they do! Cody and Dave played their asses off, Willy took pictures, Jimmy sat with the ladies, Jeremy held down the bass, and Jay and Randy played drums! Together!! At the same time!

He's a sweater!

That brought the house down, one of those things you just had to see because there’s no way I can describe it to you… God I get chills just reliving how fun that show was for everyone! Everyone was on their feet and if they didn’t know before, they knew who Reckless was now!

After the show ended, we hung around for a little bit and headed to the casino bar for some cocktails. So many more people were telling them how awesome they were and taking pictures and running around after that. It must have been all the drinking I had been doing since noon and the boat rocking, cause I didn’t last long before I had to go lay down for a bit. Next thing I know, its 4 a.m. and Tab’s coming in to check on me. Dangit! I fell asleep and missed the pizza bar… oh no I didn’t, its 24 hours duh! I got up and we made a quick round, but everyone was starting to wind down so we made our way back to the room for some sleep… we knew we were getting to sleep in since there were no more countries to stop in! But don’t think that means there’s not another story to tell… there’s plenty to talk about- mimosa’s, robe club, Willy’s hair…
