Houses of the Holy

What’s your favorite song? How many times have you had that question? How easy is it to pop an answer out? If it is easy, please read on without any offense; and if not good for you! It has always been my personal belief that you shouldn’t trust anyone who can pick one single favorite song. Why am I writing about this? no really why am i? Hmmm… I’ve had a little bit more time on my hands lately and that makes me think way too much and now you have to deal with it. Back on track- I posed this question last night to somone I am getting to know and he passed the test. (thanks) Its like my pre-screening question… I mean really think about it… I can name a great song for almost any occasion in my life, but to lump all that together and name one for a favorite would be near impossible. There’s that favorite song that got me through that break up, made me want to write, helped with the loss, made me dance my ass off, put the biggest smile on my face, made me proud to be from Texas, and many others for different reasons. He then asked me what my favorite band was… couldn’t answer. First intinct is to say Zeppelin, but I wasn’t alive for that, so is that fair for me to take that kind of credit? Does that make sense? Who cares. Not to mention genres… He likes one genre the best because its what he’s involved with, but I could only say I’ve been through too many genres to pick. I would say that I have never found myself like I have in the Texas/ Red Dirt music scene. I don’t think I ever will either… but my first love was hip hop. Its the first time I was ever passionate about music… of course now I reminisce and appreciate every time my step dad made me listen to ZZ Top (only every day of my life) and my first concert with my mom to see Conway Twitty call me darlin’. (maybe that’s why I still swoon anytime I get a “darlin” out of any guy)

Anyway a song played on my way home from work and I thought to myself- if there was a movie about my life THIS would be my opening credit. Again with the too much time= too much thinking. I have to entertain myself somehow… So I guess that began to sum up my lastest life question. I decided since its impossible to pick a song as my absolute favorite I could plan a “soundtrack” if you will for every stage of my life based on the best at the time. Make sense? Yeah still don’t care… So I was wondering if this would be an easier question to answer, turns out it was… Still getting answers in as I am typing and I love it! Thanks for my entertainment for the evening…
