Bulletproof fun with Carmen

I’m up at 7 am because I have to hold a meeting at 8:30. Normally this might constitute a “Boo” out of me, but Tuesday had the silver lining to it. I couldn’t wait to get in my car and pop in my new CD. Bulletproof had arrived at Silvercringe (still working on that one, Stogie) the day before, but I didn’t have a key to the mailbox until Mike flew in at 3 a-freakin-m. So here goes, slide it in (hehe, oops) and tears filled my eyes. I wish I could say it moved me that much, don’t get me wrong it is great, but it all hit me right then and there. Brandy was just smiling as big as she ever could, and probably because she already knew all the words since she has had the ultimate preview. I knew she was singing along with all of us that morning. So the texting started and we all knew she was going to be with us all day.
In DFW, we just had to go to CD release parties at Billy Bobs, but never had the other fun stuff to do all day. After Reagan informed me of my plans to go Waterloo and then on to Antone’s I knew I was in for a treat. I was just planning on going to the show at Antone’s. After my hellacious day at work I ran home and grabbed clothes and ran back out the door to meet her.
“Uh, it is stop and go on Mopac”
Duh.
I made it just in time to throw Deidre in park and hop into Reagan’s (you’re gonna need a name for the acura) and book it to Waterloo. I had never been to Waterloo, especially not on a CD release day. How exciting. And hot.
“Yup, there went the first trickle of sweat down my back”
“Oh, girl, I’ve already been there, Brooks and Dunn that”
And you can get beer, too? Heaven I tell ya, Brandy’s heaven at least. We got the perfect spot to catch the acoustic set and see how happy our boys were, smiling ear to ear. Let’s see- they did Ragged… yeah nope, sorry I switched to Whiskey/Waters after the initial lawnmower. My bad. Glad I didn’t miss that now! To add to my day of firsts, we went to Whole Foods to grab a bite that wouldn’t result in food comas and baggy clothes. Um, hi, my name is Trish and I was a Whole Foods virgin. Oh, sorry back to the RK Day… Reagan had lined up a shower with a house to match close by so we wouldn’t have to drive all the way back between to get ready. You missed one hell of a cleavage clinic from Curry and Horn if you weren’t in attendance.
We got to Antone’s early to make sure we had a spot. Its been so long, that I forgot what it was like to stand right up front. Man was it packed. If you got there early enough I hope you caught the Gougers, because… well because I said so, there.
“Thanks for coming to the CD Release for Badass… badass something… what’s it called? Oh, Bulletproof… aw what does it matter.”
So there we were, whiskey in my hand, dead center right up front. And even knowing how crowded it was, I was not surprised at all that we never got bumped around. In fact, the entire night there was a spot right there with us that was never filled. We knew why. Just like she always was, Brandy was right there with us, blocking the newbies from taking our spots. God, she was proud. It seems B-ran was working over time in all of our minds that day, because almost everyone I would run into on the way to the bar/bathroom would say that same thing. You’re always in our hearts!
I don’t have to tell you the show was awesome. Muzz was there for Seven Nights in Ireland. Weird, if you know what I mean… and if you don’t, you shouldn’t. Micky joined for Nobody’s Girl. The boys were having fun, which is always the best part of their shows. I have to say that my favorite part of the whole show was when they began American Blood, Momma Cheri booked it up to us and sang every word with them. (Hurry back Crystal, we can’t wait to see you!) Beautiful. Can’t beat a little Joe Ely to come back on stage with, and in true fashion ended it with Crazy Eddie. So we closed our tabs and head over to Betsy’s for the first after party. And this is the part of the night when I sit down with my Miller Lite and shut up. Good night kids! Hope you’re enjoying Badass… I mean Bulletproof as much as I am!

What a whirlwind day that was, huh? Bless. Trish experienced first hand my NEED to be up front. After 10 years, I can’t pull myself to the back. And there was this space there the entire time. It was the coolest thing ever. Brandy, we miss you dearly. But you know that. And we danced. Bless did we dance. And Cody came and played in front of me. He NEVER does that. Guess he wasn’t there to play for me anyhow. ;)

So wait. Muzz did Seven Nights in Ireland too?! Holy jeez…

Great night, but I couldnt take being up front. Too many jackasses bumping me from behind. And not in the enjoyable way. I didnt feel like being you girls’ bodyguard, so I’m glad someone else was there to do it.

“Cleavage Clinic?” Really, Carmen? Really?

Carmen??? who woulda known you were really Trish until Crystal all the way from Iraq told me today how to do this and find this blog! She wanted you to know that she read it over in Iraq and said to tell you that if she coulda she woulda posted something but couldn’t… and wanted to thank you for making her day!

So, I wasn’t the only one that noticed all the room we had up in front…and every time I worked my way up to you girls…. I think our wild angel was clearing the path :-) If she has anything to say about it they are all rocking to Bulletproof as we speak and or write this…
